Referral Order Panel Member Training
Hailed as a major step forward for Youth Offending Teams throughout the UK, panel volunteers can now be fully trained in live online classes that run regularly throughout the year.
Facilitated by experienced panel trainers closely involved in the development and testing of the new 2018 panel training, the course frees YOT's from the burden of organising training themselves, and aids retention by allowing individual volunteers to be trained and added to rotas in a more timely manner.
If you have 12 or more volunteers, we can deliver this package directly to your service at any time of year. The course will be tailored to your requirements and your panel members will be trained using your own paperwork and processes. Please contact us for more details and to request a quote.

"I thoroughly enjoyed every second of the course and I'm genuinely sad that it's come to an end.
The content of the course each week has been relevant, informative and easy to follow. I've learnt so much professionally and personally and will continue to use Restorative Practice in my daily life at work, at home, and in the community.
My tutors were the best, genuinely lovely people with a great sense of humour. I was amazed how they managed to create a warm, friendly culture amongst our group each week, even online. It made the course better than I ever imagined!"
Leah Sharpe, RJ4All
“I can honestly say that I came on the course just to get two days off the wings. In my 22 years as a prisoner officer, the best I could say about most of the courses I’ve been on is that yes, I’ve done it, it’s over, I’ve ticked the box.
Restorative Justice is the only course I’ve ever done where I’ve thought – yes, I can actually use this, and I can see it making a difference and improving the challenging environment we work in.
Since the course, I’ve managed to get approximately 20 shifts working on RJ cases, and am now seeing first-hand the effect it is having. The course has benefited me in so many ways and completely changed my outlook."
Graeme Irwin, HMP Durham
“I’ve really enjoyed how interactive and varied the course has been. From day one it been interesting and inclusive. I’ve also really enjoyed the pace which has ensured all subjects are completely digested and understood.
I’ve also loved the sense of humour displayed by everyone and the sense of teamwork and friendship that I feel has genuinely blossomed despite never meeting in person. And role-play has been a blast, now I never thought I would say that!!”
Louise Dobson, M'bro Youth Offending Team
"This course is the most valuable piece of training that I have ever been involved with in 23 years of being a social care worker. I have been involved with a lot of statutory and compulsory training and have yet to be as enthused as I am of seeing the value of restorative practice. I can already feel the difference with patients – this course has given me a whole new approach to the way I engage with them.”
Kev Gamblin, Adult Mental Health Services,
Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust
"I've always been interested in building a career in the justice sector. This course gave me the skills and knowledge I needed, and enabled me to see things from a completely different point of view. I started this course convinced I’d just receive a diploma - but I’ve learned a lot more about myself as a person, as well as always having amazing, encouraging support from my tutors!
Their support towards their students is second to none, no matter the issue I was facing I could call them - even with matters unrelated to the course.
I only completed the course last week, and I’ve already had two job offers! So this course has changed my life in so many ways. I enjoyed every minute of it, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone."
Ashleigh Clarke, County Durham
“I loved my Restorative Practice training, and firmly believe it should be mandatory for all council officers early in their career, as it has the power to transform the way we work with clients, as well as our relationships with colleagues and teams.”
Hazel Neasham, Head of Housing,
Darlington Borough Council
“The course has truly been life-changing. It’s transformed the way I see clients and the person I want to be, and has inspired me to pursue a whole new career.”
Kelly Gilmore, Environmental Health Officer
Durham County Council
The course does change you. Not only does it give you the skills to aid others, but it builds you as an individual too. I’m a much more confident and rounded person now. I reflect on my behaviour more, and question my judgements and assumptions. It’s improved all my relationships. I’m more patient with people than I ever used to be. Such a great course.”
Laz Kay, Criminology Graduate
“The course was absolutely brilliant and truthfully, is the best course I have ever attended and one which has so much potential to be transformative in so many ways. I feel incredibly lucky to have been involved in one of the best events of my entire career.”
Violence Reduction Officer, HMP Durham
